Avignon A Little Medieval Town

0

Avignon is a town in France in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and located along with Rhone River. Avignon is a little lovely Middle Age town. The best time to visit Avignon is April and October.

I nevertheless advise you to go in July because there are festivals take place at this term. You can’t find in any other places of such festivals in which many great events in the harmony of music, dance and movies.

We went to Avignon in the summer to join these festivals. We felt like we were in a little town with the sweet melodies of live music and a crowd where you can only make sincere conversation with people without to be disturbed.

I don’t remember a movie being shot here before, but if a film was ever shot in Avignon, I believe it would have a theme of love or friendship . I breathlessly drink my coffee while thinking about these.

It is not my thing to have hot drinks in summer, and I don’t believe the fact people say some hot drinks cools the heat. But when I had my coffee in my hand in Avignon, like the scenarist of the movie that I mentioned above, I began to watch the views of the place and think about my imaginative film. What kind of film must be shot? What is the title of the film? The actor sits here, the actress there, or the actress sits here, then the actor comes behind of her. The actress wears this and the actor wears that and so on…

I know it is exaggerated a little, but it took about an hour of time for me to imagine this. Then I regretted how fast the time past and started to explore Avignon quickly by the fear of the idea that all the places to see would close soon.

The first place I saw was famous medieval bridge Pont Saint-Bénézet, which has become a UNESCO World Heritage site. Thank God the town is small, so there are a limited number of places to see. Then I went to the favorite of the town Modern Arts Museum, which is very famous in both history and arts. Then I felt hungry.

I put away the croissant that I bought from the cafe just in the case to feel hungry (also by regretting not buying another one; it was delicious). By the way, The construction of 900 meters long Pont Saint-Bénézet bridge took 14 years. After visiting the Papal Palace and the Cathedral of Notre Dome, my discoveries were over. I went shopping after a one festival tour and one-day historical-cultural tour.

The widely known point of shopping in Avignon is Flea Market. You can buy anything you want from the boutique shops here. Local shops are set on Sundays as well. I missed this opportunity as my trip wasn’t on the weekend. I spent some time for shopping as above. However, I am a wine lover, so I went to Rhone region, without hesitating, to visit Châteauneuf-du-Pape to buy a delicious village wine.

After buying a couple of bottles of wine, I felt the croissant in my stomach was gone. I had dinner in a nice restaurant within the town walls, of course, accompanied with red wine:D. You can find any tastes in Avignon, but I must admit that the prices are a little expensive.

Nightlife is vibrant in summers. I found the opportunity to have fun due to both tourists and the festivals. Anyone can prefer to spend nights in wine houses of Avignon.
